Who we ARE

From the founding of the historic St. Agnes Baptist Church in the Sunnyside community of Houston, Texas to the development of a multi-generational center of evangelism and empowerment, Pearland Christian Community Church is making an indelible mark in the heart of people who choose to know their God.

Our Pastor

Dr. Gene A. Moore Sr. was born in Marshall, Texas and grew up in Ft. Worth. He moved to Houston to attend Texas Southern University and joined Holman Street Baptist Church in the Third Ward. As a young adult, he became a strong Bible teacher and an ordained deacon. Answering the call to public ministry, he preached his first sermon on May 22, 1966.

Dr. Moore began pastoring when he founded St. Agnes Baptist Church in Houston, TX in 1967 with five(5) other people. The church grew dynamically, both spiritually and numerically, reaching a membership of over 10,000 people. By 1995, Charisma magazine had identified it as one of the fastest growing churches in America.

St. Agnes Baptist Church became a safe-haven for many men, women and children who received lifelong empowerment through discipleship, Christian education, community outreach and evangelism.

National recognition came to this church because of its many pioneering and philanthropic endeavors, including the Faith Explosion Conferences, Youth Drill Team, St. Agnes Christian Academy, celebrity concerts/ recordings, Hurricane Katrina disaster relief in 2005 and Tavis Smiley’s 2006 State of the Black Union symposium.

In 1999, Dr. Moore founded Pearland Christian Community Church in Pearland, Texas. It became an alternative worship opportunity for people who embrace an early morning, traditional service. Its location also serves as the executive office and worship facility for the St. Agnes March of Faith Ministries.

What we Believe

STATEMENT OF FAITH

A Statement of Faith is a written declaration of the church’s position on matters that pertain to the essentials of historical Christianity. The following statements comprise The March of Faith Ministries’ Statement of Faith:

The Bible

We believe the Bible to be the inspired and only infallible, authoritative Word of God. Therefore, our ministry emphasizes the exposition of God’s Word from Genesis to Revelation, line upon line, precept upon precept.

The Nature of God

We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

The Deity of Christ

We believe in the deity of Christ, in His Virgin Birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of God, and in His personal return in power and glory.

Salvation

We believe that for the salvation of lost and sinful humanity, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is essential, and that repentance from sin and acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior is the only way to come into a relationship with God.

The Holy Spirit

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life; we further believe His power and gifts are available to believers today.

Resurrection

We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost: they who are saved unto the resurrection of life, and they who are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.

Scriptural Practices

We believe it is important to uphold the scriptural practices of the early church. Therefore, we hold to the practice of water baptism and the regular taking of Communion. We do not believe that either of these practices is essential for salvation, but that they serve as a demonstration of our living faith in Christ.
